Housing, and the concept of home, is one of the most contentious issues of our time. When we think of home, we often subconsciously bridge its physical structure with its conceptual meanings.

The house/home is a manufactured ideal, a representation of ontological security, and the site of habitual routines and complex social relations. It carries symbolic and sentimental meanings associated with self expression, vulnerability, and agency.

However, the home is an equally elusive and politicized space. To consider the home, we must also reflect on its embodiments of dark colonial histories, the criminalization of housing, and the rapid commodification of real estate.
