Ted Homer - The Ancient Ways

March 26, 2021 by Gergo Farkas

These photographs record the ancient paths of The Salt Way, Welsh Way and White Way, over one winter as they cross the Cotswolds. The 3 ancient tracks have a history as trade routes going back to the Iron Age period, and have been utilized by the Romans and throughout the Medieval age by tradesmen and drovers. The 3 Lanes meet each other as they cross the Cotswolds landscape. They all follow the safety that high ground provides, avoid large settlements and are now quiet, isolated lanes that are seldom used, showing no evidence of their important transport history.
