Angela Crosti - Neither Here Nor There
‘Neither Here Nor There’ is a visual diary, a personal journey, and a recollection of thoughts that lingers on a moment of restlessness and the feeling of being endlessly s swept away by the current, drifting back and forth without ever reaching the shore.
The sea is a dominant theme in my narrative. It symbolizes the distance between me, living in England, and my country of origin, Italy. But it is also, above all, the place that brings me back to my childhood memories, to the solace of my family, while also serving as a reminder of their absence.
As I confront my own vulnerabilities and all the questions that I cannot answer, I pause to observe my children and their very different personalities. I reflect on their shared resilience, awareness, and receptive patience; a sensitivity deeply rooted in our culture, shaped by affection, sacrifice, community, and a strong sense of hope for a world governed by unpredictable forces that destabilise rather than unite. Now more than ever.
