This is the portrait of life on and around a fishing boat named Cabrera. Cabrera is a seine boat for sardine and the like. Her and her crew who go out every night, fishing at dawn, to bring in the morning the fish that thousands of people consume every day.

This series was made on black and white Ilford film this spring. After Russia started a full scale war in Ukraine on the 24th of February I had to leave my home in Kyiv and look for a safer place.

This work arises from the immense fascination that fire exerts. Fire is a living thing, in power to act: to burn, to consume, to melt, to heat, to revive.

It's a lighthearted series I've taken on 35mm film about lifestyle, habits and people seeking pleasure during summer and the more relaxed times post-covid.

Thinking about how my daughter sees the world, I decided to get her suggestions for photographs. I got her input, in a sense, to achieve a naïve freshness to the photographic medium. She is not influenced by other photographers or photographic clichés. She is not worried about whether a photograph constitutes art. She does not know the rule of thirds, rule of odds, color theory, and the like. Thus, from her, I get ideas for photographs I would have never come up with, such as an acorn squash wearing a tinfoil hat.

These photographs are part of a series called "Character Study" and it attempts to explore different thoughts and moments describing my character, and through this creating a self portrait.

I take pictures of places, people, and situations that I'm drawn by, want to explore, show and talk about (through images), or simply find interesting, revealing, beautiful or representative of something particular.
